“Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”
– Melody Beattie, Author
Part of celebrating a new year, is taking a moment to reflect on the year that just ended. As we began to brainstorm what our message for 2018 would look like, we initially struggled. What’s the message we want to communicate about 2017? We’ve all been impacted, either directly or indirectly, by the numerous natural disasters and a changing political climate. The year was a tough one. Despite the challenges of 2017, PFS chose to respond by taking our values and turning them into action as best we could. As we reflected on 2017, the message we walked away with was one of gratitude. We are grateful for the chance to bring integrity, inclusion, and humility to our daily work to connect, heal, and strengthen communities, on behalf of our clients.
We were thankful for the opportunity to partner with our nonprofit and philanthropic community as they worked to improve the world. With this spirit of appreciation in mind, we asked our clients to take a moment and send the a postcard to someone for whom they are grateful. What our team particularly loved about the postcard is it features the artwork (above), Mujeres Luna, created by local artist, Ernesto Olmos, who lives and works in Santa Rosa, CA. Like so many of our neighbors to the north, Ernesto’s life was directly impacted by the fires that decimated the region in the fall of 2017. (To learn more about Ernesto’s work, please visit Youth in Arts, an arts education organization where he teaches.)
This small gesture was a simple way to share positivity, at a time when we all need it. With this in mind, why don’t you think of someone for whom you are grateful and send them a text, email or note …. because who doesn’t love receiving a little gratitude?
