Shawna Hamilton

Program Officer

Shawna is energized by advancing a foundation’s philanthropic goals. She enjoys working with families, getting out into the community, and activating her research and analysis muscles.

Prior to joining PFS in 2013, Shawna worked with Silicon Valley Community Foundation as a development associate, and with Cisco Systems’ Corporate Social Responsibility team as a Corporate Giving Counselor. While at Cisco, Shawna advised employees and grant seekers on opportunities to engage within the social sector, and managed the global Habitat for Humanity program. Early in her career, Shawna worked for a hedge fund in New York, while leading strategy and operations for Seeds of Africa Foundation—an education focused nonprofit in Ethiopia.

Shawna received her MA in nonprofit management from the Milano School for International Affairs, Management and Urban Policy at the New School, and her BA in international business from California State University, Northridge. She grew up in Santa Barbara, California, and loves to dance, travel to distant places, and spend time with her dog, Niña.
