Jessica Misslin

Senior Foundation Staff

Jessi is inspired by the dedication and creativity of nonprofit organizations and works to foster effective and empathetic grantmaking practices for PFS client foundations. As part of the senior program team, Jessi provides comprehensive support and leadership for multiple clients, managing the daily business of a foundation’s philanthropic vision while working to build empowering grantee relationships.

Jessi joined PFS in 2009 as a member of the grants management team and transitioned to the role of program officer in 2012. Her program specialties include arts and arts education, youth mental health and wellness, coupled with her passion for social justice particularly in food and education systems . Prior to joining PFS, Jessi worked in the nonprofit sector for creative youth development and mentorship organizations, including 826 Valencia, Open Roads, Summer Search, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities. This experience directly informs and motivates Jessi’s approach to grantmaking.

Jessi earned a BS in multidisciplinary studies at Minneapolis College of Art & Design. She also holds a Creative Nonfiction Writing Certificate from the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies, in Portland, Maine.

A transplant from Minnesota, Jessi’s Midwest roots run deep though she now lives in the East Bay with her husband, Matt, and two young sons. Often commuting between PFS offices, she has developed a necessary addiction to podcasts and drive-thru coffee shops.
