Guidelines

  1. Grants are not made to individuals, endowments, for fund development, to cover deficits, or for conferences and events.
  2. The Foundation generally does not fund staff development.
  3. The Foundation will occasionally support a capital campaign project for new construction once the project has reached 75% of its goal. Only one grant will be made per campaign.
  4. The Foundation will consider capital grant requests for equipment needs (such as furniture, playground equipment, etc.).
  5. Applications must be submitted within the periods listed above. Receipt of applications will be acknowledged.
  6. Although the Foundation appreciates the time and effort that each organization spends in applying, not all requests can be funded, and all decisions are made at the discretion of the Board.
  7. A few applicants may be invited to make 30 minute presentations to the Board.
  8. The Foundation may request to make a site visit to a program.
  9. Generally, multi-year grants are not made, but subsequent requests may be considered.
  10. A Grant Report must be submitted at the end of your grant period, or if you are reapplying, the grant report should accompany your application form.
  11. Only one request from an organization will be processed in a 12 month period.

Objectives

On the grant application form, we ask you to state the objectives for your project or program. These should include the answers to the following questions:

  • Who is the target population, what is the number and age range of clients?
  • Who are the staff members, and what are their qualifications?
  • What is the program and what is the anticipated impact on the participants?
  • What activities will take place, when and where?
Being specific in your answers to these questions will help you to go back to these objectives when it is time to write your report in order to document your progress.

Procedures

All grant requests must be submitted on our "Application for Grant" form, and during the appropriate 30 day window. Information provided must be limited to the spaces on the form, and in not less than 10 point type size. This is the information that will be provided to the Foundation’s Board of Directors.

In addition, the following items must be provided for each grant request:

  • Revenue and expense budget for the proposed program
  • Current agency total revenue and expense budget
  • Most recent agency Audit or Financial Statements for the past fiscal year
  • Grant Report if submitting another grant request
